PVC / Polystyrene board, 40x60cm
Two full scale, cut-out reproductions of default Facebook avatars, produced to be photographed for the cover of “Decat o Revista” magazine.
“In computing, an avatar is the graphical representation of the user or the user's alter ego or character” (Wikipedia). On social media you can’t exist without an avatar, many of the networks will assign you a default temporary image until you replace it with your own. From this point of view, you may also consider the avatar as a common denominator, the universal picture of an entire (digital) community, because at some point, even for a short moment, this was the face of everyone of us as social media users.
The intervention with the socket and the electrical plug, may be considered a “voice” of these avatars, a means of communication and energy.
